The assembly, rising from a three-day meeting in Abuja, urged the government to shelve the idea of revoking Kanu’s bail. Osinbajo disown ngige over ASUU strike

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says contrary to the claim by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, he has not taken over negotiations with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities. The vice president said this today through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande. Ngige had, while addressing State House reporters after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, said Osinbajo had taken over some aspects of the negotiations and discussions with the ASUU. U.S orders closure of Russian consulate in San Francisco

The U.S. has ordered Russia to close its consulate in San Francisco, the U.S. State Department said on Thursday. The order was in response to the Kremlin’s decision to shrink the U.S. diplomatic mission in Russia. The U.S. also required Russia to close its two annex buildings in Washington, D.C. and New York City. In July, Moscow had ordered the U.S. to cut its diplomatic and technical staff in Russia by more than half to 455 people after Congress overwhelmingly approved new sanctions against Russia. “We believe this action was unwarranted and detrimental to the overall relationship between our countries.  “In the spirit of parity invoked by the Russians, we are requiring the Russian government to close its Consulate General in San Francisco, a chancery annex in Washington, D.C., and a consular annex in New York City.“ These closures will need to be accomplished by Sept. 2,” State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement on Thursday. ASUU-my child also affected by strike-Labour minister Chris Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Wednesday disclosed that his child is also affected by the current ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. Ngige revealed this when he spoke with state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting. He said, “I have my child at home as we speak. Okorocha bans Keke napep in Owerri, replaces them with 2000 wagons

Tricycle Operators(Keke Marwa) in Imo state will cease to operate in designated areas in Owerri, the State Capital as from Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Only taxis will now be operating in the Capital City. For that reason, the governor shared about 2000 Passat Wagon Vehicles to Keke Operators as a replacement, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, to enable them comply with the directive. Balloting was conducted at the Hero’s Square for the beneficiaries to emerge. The second batch beneficiaries will get theirs in October while the third batch will have their own in December 2017, adding that Keke Operators would no longer be expected to operate along the major roads of Douglas, Wetheral, Bank Road, Orlu Road and other designated roads”.
